Depression
Depression can seem to come out of nowhere. It can overtake you, making you feel that you have very little control over it. Many people fit the criteria for being diagnosed with depression, without even knowing it. This happens when 'feeling a bit crap' happens so often that it seems normal.
Depression is very common and is on the rise. According to the Office of National Statistics (UK), between 8 and 10% of us will experience a period of depression this year. In New Zealand it is estimated that 6% of adults will have experienced psychological distress in the last four weeks (often linked to depression). Anxiety disorders, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, social phobia and generalised anxiety disorder, often accompany depression.
Certain medications can be effective in managing the symptoms of depression, but there is no actual medical cure for the condition. This is where the thinking element comes in, especially when it comes to overcoming the belief that you have no control over the way you feel. Learning how to take control of depression is the best thing you can do.
Depression is a sure sign that you need to make changes in your life. Hypnotherapy can help by relieving the depressive symptoms as well as any accompanying feelings of anxiety. But the best thing you can do in the long-run is to gain a real understanding of what depression actually is, where it comes from, why you are getting it, and, most importantly, how to get rid if it. The Creating Mind Health course will show you how to do all of that, giving you a deep understanding of the symptoms and putting you fully in control.
